A Photographer’s Dream Assignment in the Heart of Nature
When I was invited to stay and photograph the Moore Life Writing Retreat, I didn’t have to think twice. Some jobs just feel too good to be true—and this was certainly one of them. The chance to immerse myself in such a creatively rich and visually stunning environment was a true privilege. As a professional photographer with decades of experience this really was a stand out job.
What Happens at a Moore Life Writing Retreat?
The Moore Life Writing Retreat is no ordinary getaway. It’s a space designed for writers, poets, and creatives to connect with themselves and others. Set in a beautiful natural location, the retreat blends writing workshops, creative exploration, yoga, nature walks, and meditative downtime . You can find full details on Moore Life’s official website where you might spot some other excellent photography!
A Film That Speaks from the Heart
I’m especially proud of the short film I created during the retreat. Shot in a documentary style, it gives an insight into the experience. The film is beautifully voiced by Lisa Moore, founder of Moore Life. Aside from being a brilliant writer and poet, Lisa is also an actress, and her narration gives the film a personal, emotional resonance that brings the whole experience to life.

Photography That Tells a Story
Throughout the retreat, I aimed to capture not just faces and places, but emotion. The storytelling elements. I’ve spent years honing my Lifestyle Photography style to suit a range of projects—from editorial to wellness and documentary work. The retreat setting offered me the chance to combine all those skills into one visual narrative.

Light Painting Photography
During the retreat I took the opportunity of shooting some light painting photography in this stunning location, just for fun.
I’ve included these images at the end of the post. No tricks or editing here, just photographic technique.
