Transform Your Product Photography and Showcase Your Craft with Confidence

BIPC Leeds Workshop with TSP Studios

I’m really pleased to be heading to Leeds again to deliver an upcoming workshop with BIPC Leeds as part of their Start-up and Grow programme, supporting crafters and creators across the Leeds City Council area.

This three-hour practical, hands-on workshop is designed for small businesses, makers, and creative entrepreneurs who want to improve their product photography and present their work with confidence — without feeling overwhelmed by technical jargon or expensive kit.

I have had the pleasure of being involved with Leeds BIPC for many years now, it’s a brilliant resource. In the past I have had a 2 hour slot to talk to the makers. After feed back I’m now doing 3 1/2 hour sessions, a couple of these sessions are open to the public and free, you can book HERE and HERE. All the tickets will go, they always do.

Practical Photography Using the Equipment You Already Own

One of the biggest myths around product photography is that you need a full studio and thousands of pounds’ worth of equipment. In reality, strong images come from understanding light, composition, and intention.

During the workshop, I’ll be sharing practical tips and techniques to help you create studio-style product images using the equipment you already have — whether that’s:

  • a smartphone
  • a mirrorless or DSLR camera
  • basic lighting or natural light

The focus is on making photography work for your business.

What the Workshop Will Cover

Across the session, we’ll explore:

  • Composition techniques that elevate your products
  • Understanding exposure and light direction
  • Colour balance and consistency for professional-looking images
  • Simple styling approaches that don’t overpower your work
  • How to create images that feel authentic to your brand using Ai

I’ll also be sharing examples from my own commercial work, talking through:

  • my creative ethos and thought process
  • how I approach commissions
  • sourcing clients and pricing your work confidently and the use of AI
  • and how strong imagery directly supports sales and brand perception

This isn’t just about taking better photos — it’s about understanding why images matter and how they support your wider business goals.

A Hands-On, Supportive Environment

This workshop is designed to be practical and encouraging. Participants are actively encouraged to bring:

  • your phone and/or camera equipment
  • products you’d like to photograph
  • props or materials you regularly use

You’ll have the opportunity to experiment, ask questions, and apply what you learn immediately, with guidance throughout the session.

Why I’m Looking Forward to This

Supporting creative businesses at an early stage is something I genuinely care about. Confidence with photography can be a turning point — helping makers feel proud of their work, attract the right customers, and grow sustainably.

I’m really looking forward to meeting the crafters and creators taking part, and to sharing tools and insights that can make a real difference long after the workshop ends.
