Car-to-Car Photography by TSP Studios Featured in The Automobile Magazine (August 2025)
At TSP Studios, photographing cars isn’t just work — it’s a passion. There’s something incredibly rewarding about capturing the beauty and history of classic vehicles. I quite like the smell and the noise too! Coupled with that it’s also very nice to see your work published in magazine such as The Automobile.
One of my favourite methods is the car-to-car shoot. Harnessed into the back of my van which I have designed especially for this technique, with my gear ready, I work in motion — the subject car following close behind. This takes great communication and skill from also the car that follows and the driver of my van. The techniques creates an authentic, non-Photoshopped motion blur that gives the image a sense of speed and soul that static shots simply can’t match.
2 CMD – A Legend on the Road
The most recent project was really special: photographing the Frazer Nash Le Mans Coupé, registration number 2 CMD. This remarkable machine isn’t just rare — it’s a survivor with racing pedigree, and capturing it in motion felt like doing justice to its spirited past.
I’m incredibly proud that this shoot has been featured in the August 2025 edition of The Automobile magazine. Seeing the images in print, alongside a car of such historical importance is such a lovely thing. There’s nothing quite like knowing your work contributes to preserving and celebrating automotive history.
Light Painting Car Photography
If I can I always try to do something a little different during my shoots, sometimes it doesn’t work, that’s fine. It’s one of the things I talk about a lot when I lecture in photography- ‘get things wrong and your doing it right’
This time it worked though as I’ve been light painting for quite a while. I shot this light painting image in Tom Hardman’s photography space, where the car was being stored. Tom Hardman is a high end classic car dealer who I have the pleasure of working with quite a lot, check out his new website, it’s a great read.
